Then I looked up and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they sang:
“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”
Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing:
“To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power for ever and ever!”
The four living creatures said, “Amen”, and the elders fell down and worshipped.
Revelation 5:11-14
I don’t know about you, but I find myself getting very caught up in things of the world and don’t often really focus on the “big picture”.
And God is a God who cares about the little things that happen to us on a daily basis.
BUT, in the scheme of things, those little things really are insignificant when you focus on the big picture.
I was sharing the above bible verses on Sunday. Little things had been going wrong in the lead-up to my worship leading. Nothing uncommon there. Satan will use whatever he can to distract us from focusing on God. Sadly, he was doing a good job on me over the weekend and things that probably aren’t all that significant in the scheme of things were feeling VERY significant to me.
In reality, we’re here on earth for a such a tiny little portion of our lives. These verses give us a glimpse of what heaven will be like. They certainly make my little problems and issues pale into insignificance. Not because God doesn’t care about them but because there is a SO MUCH BIGGER picture than we often realise.
I used these verses as a lead in to the following song. I’ve been trying to find a nice recording of it with meaningful images to go with it. We have a great DVD we use at church with some great images as well as the words. Most of what was on youtube was rather graphic and I couldn’t bring myself to post it here.
If you’d like to be really challenged, you could go and watch them. They are graphic and horrifying because they are REAL (okay, technically they’re from a film but they’re based on what really happened). It really puts things into perspective.
In the meantime, here is a Hillsong recording of Worthy Is The Lamb. It’s one of my favourite songs at the moment. You can’t listen to it without being prompted to really worship God.

Also one of my (many) favourite worship songs. Not one I use in services though, it makes me cry. It’s hard to worship lead when you are crying. Can’t sing with a squeaky voice and a crumpled up face.

That’s the beauty of the DVD’s – doesn’t matter if you can’t sing, they do it for you.
I had my Sunday School class kids asking me why I was crying at the front of the church.
