I Don’t Read My Bible Everyday

Which is silly really because when I do, I find my day goes so much better.

And yet some days, it just doesn’t happen.

No real excuses.  It just doesn’t happen.

Some weeks I’ll go all week without actually opening my bible. :(

That’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about music.

Rarely a day goes by when I don’t have a song or two moving through my head.

And guess what?

Most of those words are based on Scripture.

So even on the days that I don’t read my bible, I’m reminded of God’s goodness and mercy through song.

What a beautiful gift.  :)

Wow! thanks for that! you’ve made me feel a bit better about the fact that I don’t read my bible everyday either. I do listen to worship music everyday and I hadn’t thought about the fact that it is based on scripture.

Dont worry I am in the same boat! I either listen to music or to a recorded speaker on CD in my car in my travels but I love nothing better than sitting with my Bible in the warm winter sun and absorbing Gods word and wisdom contained therein.

I do know though that its amazing how precious those words are when God reminds you of them on the tough days ….. guess thats why its important to have memory verses…. so that when we are not near a Bible, they are sown into us for reaping later on…..

I often find that childrens songs minister to me the most nd remind me of vital truths that I sometimes neglect because I ahve chosen to ignore that I am still a child of God and He is my boss!

Love to you my Sisters, in these hard hours you are ahaving. May God strengthen you in His own way and may you feel His love….. like never before. XXXXOOOOOO

I am not sure if this really fits but I thought it would bring a smile to your faces…… a joke recently sent to me by a friend…..

A minister decided to do something a little different one Sunday morning.

He said “Today, in church, I am going to say a single word and you are going to help me preach.

Whatever single word I say, I want you to sing whatever hymn that comes to your mind”

The pastor shouted out “CROSS.”

Immediately the congregation started singing in unison, “THE OLD RUGGED CROSS.”

The pastor hollered out “GRACE.” The congregation began to sing “AMAZING GRACE, how sweet the sound.”

The pastor said “POWER.” The congregation sang “THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD.”

The Pastor said “SEX” The congregation fell into total silence.

Everyone was in shock. They all nervously began to look around at each other afraid to say anything.

Then all of a sudden, way from in the back of the church,

A little old 87 year old grandmother stood up and began to sing “MEMORIES.”

Pass this along and make someone smile today (I just did).

Gotta Love Little Old Ladies.

Laugh… It burns calories

Thanks Lynette. Nice to have a smile with my morning coffee!

Thanks for pointing out the wisdom of memory verses, I’ve always wondered why we insist of having those but I obviously hadn’t given it too much thought because the answer is pretty obvious!

So, how many calories does laughing burn exactly?

Yes, I am afraid to say that many times weeks go by when I have not read my Bible… but I usually have a song of praise in my heart.

I love to sing around the house, with whatever I am doing - hymns, choruses, etc. I find I do better singing myself than listening to music, strangely enough. When I put a cd on, I often switch off. When I am singing, I am more conscious of what I am saying…

You are right, songs are a beautiful gift… I still need to try to read my Bible more though…!

lv,
Joy
